Emma's Mermaid Birthday

I admittedly get a little anxious to do themed first birthday shoots, as it can often be difficult to stay true to my style while still meeting the client's vision. With Emma's mermaid theme I wanted to keep the sweetness and innocence of a little girl turning one, while still having fun with it. My style is much more muted, neutral, and understated; which was difficult to convey in a mermaid theme, but the results turned out even better than I could've imagined!

Emma was one of the sweetest little girls ever! Her big blue eyes stole the show and kept all of the focus on her. Mom brought the banner that they would be using for her birthday party, which was great because then everything would be cohesive with the theme. I love the soft feel of these photos, while still keeping it fun! It also helped that Emma was an adorable little model behind the camera! :)

We finished up the session with some timeless photos. I always recommend to do this during first birthday shoots. As sweet as it is to have themed photos, you'll always want something sweet and simple that you can hang in your home for years to come! I love the way that Emma's personality shined in each and every photo!
